സെൻട്രൽ ബോർഡ് ഓഫ് ഇൻഡയറക്ട് ടാക്സസ് & കസ്റ്റംസ് (സിബിഐസി) തിരുവനന്തപുരം പ്രാദേശിക ഓഫീസ് കോഴിക്കോട് അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര വിമാനത്താവളം വഴി രാജ്യത്തേക്ക് ലഹരിവസ്തുക്കൾ കടത്താനുള്ള ശ്രമം പരാജയപ്പെടുത്തി.
ചീഫ് കമ്മീഷണർ എസ്.കെ. റഹ്മാന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ തിരുവനന്തപുരം മേഖലാ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥർ 34 കിലോഗ്രാം ഹൈഡ്രോപോണിക് ലഹരി വസ്തുവും ആംഫെറ്റാമൈൻസമാന പദാർത്ഥങ്ങൾ അടങ്ങിയ 15 കിലോഗ്രാം ചോക്ലേറ്റുകളും പിടിച്ചെടുത്തു. ഇവയുടെ ആകെ മൂല്യം 40 കോടി രൂപയോളമാണെന്നു കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര വ്യോമ റൂട്ടുകളിലൂടെ എത്തിയ കേരള, തമിഴ്‌നാട് സ്വദേശികളായ മൂന്ന് സ്ത്രീകളിൽ നിന്നാണ് ലഹരിവസ്തുക്കൾ പിടികൂടിയത്. ഇവരെ കസ്റ്റഡിയിലെടുത്തു വിശദമായ അന്വേഷണം നടത്തി വരുന്നു.
സമീപകാലത്തുണ്ടായ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ ലഹരിമരുന്നു വേട്ടകളിലൊന്നാണിത്. കസ്റ്റംസ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരുടെ വർദ്ധിച്ച ജാഗ്രതയെ ഈ നടപടി പ്രതിഫലിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. പുതുതായി നിയമിതനായ ചീഫ് കമ്മീഷണറുടെയും സംഘത്തിന്റെയും നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ, തിരുവനന്തപുരം മേഖല കഴിഞ്ഞ ആഴ്ചയിൽ മാത്രം അതിന്റെ അധികാരപരിധിയിലുള്ള വിവിധ വിമാനത്താവളങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നായി ഏകദേശം 65 കോടി രൂപ വിലമതിക്കുന്ന ലഹരിവസ്തുക്കളുടെ കള്ളക്കടത്ത് ശ്രമങ്ങൾ തടഞ്ഞു.
തായ്‌ലൻഡിൽ ഉത്പാദിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ഹൈഡ്രോപോണിക് കഞ്ചാവ്, നേരിട്ട് കണ്ടെത്താതിരിക്കാൻ ഗൾഫ് രാജ്യങ്ങളിലൂടെയും മറ്റ് തെക്കുകിഴക്കൻ ഏഷ്യൻ രാജ്യങ്ങളിലൂടെയും കടത്തുന്ന പ്രവണതയുടെ തെളിവാണ് ഈ പിടിച്ചെടുക്കൽ. ഇന്ത്യയിലുടനീളമുള്ള എല്ലാ കസ്റ്റംസ് ഫീൽഡ് സംവിധാനങ്ങൾക്കും ഈ പുതിയ രീതിയെക്കുറിച്ച് മുന്നറിയിപ്പ് നൽകിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. എല്ലാത്തരം ലഹരിവസ്തുക്കളുടെയും കടത്തൽ മുൻകൂർ പ്രതിരോധിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ദേശീയ സുരക്ഷയും പൊതുജനാരോഗ്യവും സംരക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള പ്രതിജ്ഞാബദ്ധത കസ്റ്റംസ് വകുപ്പ് ആവർത്തിക്കുന്നു.
CBIC Thiruvananthapuram Busts Major Drug Smuggling Attempt at Kozhikode Airport
In a significant development, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), Regional Office, Thiruvananthapuram, has successfully foiled a major attempt to smuggle narcotic substances into the country through Kozhikode International Airport.
On 14th May 2025, officers of the Thiruvananthapuram Zone, led by Shri S.K. Rahman, Chief Commissioner, seized 34 kg of hydroponic weed and 15 kg of chocolates that tested positive for amphetamine-like substances. The total estimated value of the contraband is ₹40 crore.
The substances were intercepted from three Indian women passengers of Kerala and Tamil Nadu origin, who arrived via international routes. The individuals have been detained, and a detailed investigation is currently underway.
This operation marks one of the largest seizures in recent times and reflects the enhanced vigilance of the customs officers in the region. Under the leadership of the newly appointed Chief Commissioner and his team, the Thiruvananthapuram Zone has intercepted drug smuggling attempts valued at approximately ₹65 crore in the past week alone at various airports under its jurisdiction.
The seizure also highlights an emerging smuggling trend, wherein hydroponic weed, primarily sourced from Thailand, is being routed through Gulf countries and other Southeast Asian nations to evade direct detection. All Customs field formations across India have been alerted about this new modus operandi. The Customs Department reiterates its commitment to safeguarding national security and public health by proactively countering all forms of drug trafficking.
