സംസ്ഥാന തദ്ദേശ ഭരണസംവിധാന രംഗത്തേക്ക് കൂടുതൽ പ്രൊഫഷണലുകൾ കടന്നു വരണമെന്ന് സംസ്ഥാന തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പു കമ്മീഷണർ എ ഷാജഹാൻ. തദ്ദേശ സ്വയംഭരണ തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിനെ കുറിച്ച് ആകാശവാണി വാർത്താ വിഭാഗത്തിലെ മാധ്യമ പ്രവർത്തകർക്കായി തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തു സംഘടിപ്പിച്ച ശിൽപശാല ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്യുകയായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം. അഴിമതിരഹിതവും, വികസനോന്മുഖവുമായ പ്രവർത്തനം കാഴ്ചവയ്ക്കാൻ യോഗ്യരായ സ്ഥാനാർത്ഥികൾ കടന്നു വരണമെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു. വാർത്തകളെ കുറിച്ചുളള കാഴ്ചപ്പാടുകളല്ല, വാർത്തകൾ തന്നെയായിരിക്കണം മാധ്യമങ്ങൾ പ്രാധാന്യത്തോടെ നൽകേണ്ടതെന്നും ആധികാരികമായ വാർത്തകൾക്ക് മാത്രമേ നിലനിൽപ്പുള്ളൂ എന്നും അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു. ആകാശവാണി വാർത്തകൾ അതിന്റേതായ ഗൗരവത്തിലാണ് ജനങ്ങൾ കണക്കിലെടുക്കുന്നതെന്നും സംസ്ഥാന തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പു കമ്മീഷണർ ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടി.
സംസ്ഥാന തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പു കമ്മീഷൻ മാധ്യമപ്രവർത്തകർക്കായി തയ്യാറാക്കിയ ഹാൻഡ് ബുക്ക് ശ്രീ. ഷാജഹാൻ പ്രസ് ഇൻഫർമേഷൻ ബ്യൂറോ അഡീഷണൽ ഡയറക്ടർ ജനറൽ വി പളനിച്ചാമി ഐഐഎസിനു നൽകി പ്രകാശനം ചെയ്തു. നിർമിത ബുദ്ധിയുടേതായ ഇക്കാലത്ത് വാർത്തകൾ യാഥാർത്ഥ്യമാണോ എന്നു പരിശോധിക്കുന്നതിന് വളരെ പ്രാധാന്യമാണുള്ളതെന്ന് ചടങ്ങിൽ അധ്യക്ഷത വഹിച്ച പ്രസ് ഇൻഫർമേഷൻ ബ്യൂറോ അഡീഷണൽ ഡയറക്ടർ ജനറൽ വി പളനിച്ചാമി ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടി. ആകാശവാണി വാർത്താ വിഭാഗം മേധാവി ലെമി ജി നായർ, നിലയം മേധാവി എ ജി ബൈജു, പ്രോഗ്രാം വിഭാഗം മേധാവി പി എ ബിജു എന്നിവർ സംസാരിച്ചു. വാർത്താ വിഭാഗം അസിസ്റ്റന്റ് ഡയറക്ടർ എം സ്മിതി സ്വാഗതവും ന്യൂസ് എഡിറ്റർ ബി അനില നന്ദിയും പറഞ്ഞു. തദ്ദേശ ഭരണ സ്ഥാപന തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പു നടപടികളെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ചർച്ചകൾക്ക് കമ്മീഷൻ സെക്രട്ടറി ബി എസ് പ്രകാശ് നേതൃത്വം നൽകി.

Workshop on Local Self-Government Elections Organized for All India Radio News Division Media Professionals
State Election Commissioner Shri A. Shajahan today emphasized the need for more professionals to step into the field of local governance. He was inaugurating a workshop organized for the media professionals of All India Radio News Division on the upcoming local self-government elections, held in Thiruvananthapuram.
Shri Shajahan underscored that candidates capable of ensuring corruption-free and development-oriented governance should come forward to lead local bodies. “Media should focus not on perspectives about news, but on the news itself,” he remarked, stressing that only authentic and credible news would stand the test of time. He noted that All India Radio News continues to be regarded by the public with respect for its reliability and integrity.
During the event, the State Election Commissioner released a handbook prepared by the State Election Commission for media professionals. The first copy was handed over to Shri V. Palanichamy, IIS, Additional Director General of the Press Information Bureau.
Presiding over the function, Shri Palanichamy highlighted the growing importance of verifying the authenticity of news in the age of artificial intelligence. “In this era of AI-generated content, ensuring the factual accuracy of news is of utmost significance,” he observed.
All India Radio News Head Smt. Lemy G. Nair, Station Director Shri A. G. Baiju, and Head of Programmes Shri P. A. Biju also addressed the gathering. Assistant Director (News) Shri M. Smitha delivered the welcome address, and News Editor Smt. B. Anila proposed the vote of thanks.
A detailed session on the procedures and conduct of local body elections was led by Shri B. S. Prakash, Secretary of the State Election Commission.
