CHAIRMAN: Hon’ble Members, as you might be aware, several persons have lost their lives and many have been adversely affected by heavy rains and associated disasters such as floods, lightning strikes and landslides in various parts of the country, particularly in the States of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Union territory of Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, Mizoram, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, during June and July, 2026.
It has also caused extensive damage to property, crops and public infrastructure. The flora and fauna of these regions have also been severely affected. The respective Governments, ably supported by NDRF teams, are undertaking the rescue and relief measures.
The loss of precious lives and injury to people is indeed painful and unfortunate.
The House joins me in expressing heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the bereaved families and prays for the speedy recovery and rehabilitation of the injured and affected.
I request Members to rise in their places and observe silence as a mark of respect to the memory of those who lost their lives in these natural calamities.
